Just lost so much Calories after nice winter Walk:)

I took my dog for a 60 minute walk today. I feel so much energy!:) I should treat it as a special kind of workout, because I burned so much calories – I checked it on the calorie counter – 299 calories, which is as many as in 12 carrots, 1 hamburger or chocolate Candy bar!!!!:) WOW

Brewing Tea Rules

Brewing Tea Rules:
1) Use freshly boiled water
2) the water should be 100 degrees of Celsius for black tea, and about 70 degrees Celsius for the Green and White Tea

3) Cover the cup, so that the flavors can not escape
4) Brewing time depends on the type of tea. Black tea from 3 to 5 minutes, green tea about 3 minutes.

Healthy Ginger Feast:)

Smoothing and Healing properties of Ginger:

  • Ginger has an anti-inflammatory property
  • Ginger strengthens immunity
  • Ginger prevents from nausea
  • Ginger stimulates digestion
  • Ginger is helpful in motion sickness
  • Ginger helps to reduce body fat

Ginger can easily become almost daily part of the diet, for example, we can brew a Ginger Tea.:

Brew a black or green tea with 2 slices of ginger (water at a temperature of about 95 degrees of Celsius )

Let it stay about 3 minutes and pull out a bag of tea.

Leave a ginger for about 10 minutes and also pull it out.

You can then add, for example, honey and lemon

Ginger can also be served for dinner 🙂 My suggestion is Ginger Beef. I know that many of you prefer lean meat or chicken or turkey, but remember that beef is the richest in iron, zinc, vitamin B12 of all kinds of meat. It has comparable amount of fat and calories to chicken – you can check the calories in beef, as well as amount of protein and fats.

INGREDIENTS:
about 2 pounds of beef
4 tomatoes
3 onions
2 cloves of garlic
1 cup of chicken or beef broth
3 tablespoons of olive oil
grated ginger slice
turmeric
chilli, powder
salt and pepper

PREPARATION

Spices, onion, garlic and ginger mix with beef and leave it  for 3 hours in the refrigerator. Then cook the meat in a pan with olive oil. Then add chopped tomatoes and cook everything for 10 minutes. At the end, pour the broth and stew for 1.5 hours. You can also add red pepper, beans or other veggies / legumes you like.

Melon Mojito Fish Tacos

Ingredients:

Fish
2 barramundi filets, about 6oz each (or other firm white fish, such as mahi)
1 clove of garlic, minced
2 tablespoons light rum
2 tablespoons lime juice
2 teaspoons lime zest
2 tablespoons chopped fresh mint
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
freshly ground black pepper

Honeydew Mojito Salsa
1 cup finely chopped honeydew melon (150gm)
1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
2 tablespoons chopped fresh mint
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
1 serrano chile, seeded and minced
2 tablespoons lime juice
1 tablespoon light rum
1 teaspoon coconut sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt


Remaining Ingredients

6 corn tortillas
1 1/2 cups chopped red cabbage (1/4th of a large cabbage)

Directions:

Place fish on in a small baking dish. Whisk together garlic, rum, lime juice, lime zest, mint, cumin, salt and pepper. Pour evenly over fish, spooning the herbs and garlic on top of the fish. Set aside and let marinate 10-20 minutes.

Meanwhile, prepare salsa by combining all ingredients in a medium bowl and stirring together.

Preheat grill to medium-high. Spray grates with cooking spray.

Place fish on grill and cook for 10-12 minutes, covered, turning once. Fish is done with it flakes easily and is opaque in the center. Remove from grill and wrap with foil to keep warm.

Place tortillas on the grill and cook for about 60 seconds per side, until browned and slightly crisp.

Slice fish into pieces and divide among the warm tortillas. Top with cabbage and salsa.

If I don’t want to go constantly meatless :)

I know that going meatless will help me lose extra pounds and possibly be healthier…. that is why I usually look for healthy meatless recipes.

Anyway, there are days I feel my body needs high-value protein which I can find in meat. As I love counting calories, because it keeps me motivated to eat healthy and exercise, I compared amount of calories in different types of meet in my favorite calorie counter CalorieCalc.net–  so I checked calories in chicken, calories in beef and calories in pork, and I couldn’t believe how many calories and fat pork has comparing amount of calories and fat chicken or beef have !!!

Anyway, as chicken won my small battle:) I want to share a very tasty and healthy recipe wit you:
Chicken breast marinated in greek yogurt and red pepper baked with mozzarella and cherry tomatoes:
Chicken marinated in yogurt:
• 2 single chicken breasts
• sea salt
• 2 tsp of red pepper powder
• 1 tablespoon of flour
• 1.3 cups of greek yogurt
• 1 tablespoon of olive oil
• 1 tablespoon of honey
 For baking:
• 4.5 oz of mozzarella cheese
•0.77 ponds of cherry tomatoes
• 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
• 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
 To serve:
• chopped chives
• 1-1/2 cups of Greek yogurt
• red pepper powder

Cut the chicken breasts so with each breast you should get 3 thin fillets. Sprinkle chicken with a sea salt, red pepper and add olive oil. Then sprinkle fillets with flour. Combine the yogurt with olive oil, honey and a pinch of salt. Put the chicken in a  bowl and add the yogurt mix. Let it stand for at least an hour, preferably 2 -3 hours.
Preheat oven to 410 degrees of Fahrenheit. Preheat also your baking dish. Cut mozzarella into 6 slices, sprinkle with sea salt. Rinse and dry the tomatoes, put them on a plate, season with salt, pepper, 1 teaspoon of sugar, dried oregano, extra virgin olive oil and mix them gently.
Place chicken with marinate (needs to be at room temperature) on the hot pan, cover with mozzarella cheese, then tomatoes and put into the oven. Bake for about 15 minutes. Serve with Greek yogurt, chives and red pepper powder.

Healthy Light and Special Dessert

I often miss a snack that would be almost like a balanced meal and would taste a bit like a dessert at the same time. .. Then I think of Rice pudding with vanilla flavor and cinnamon 🙂 Real  feast for those on the diet:)
I didn’t even expect that only 12 minutes of running can burn all the amount of calories in rice
(1 cup of rice) :):):)

1/2 cup of cooked brown rice
3/4 cup of milk
1 tsp of vanilla
Brown Sugar to taste
Pinch of salt
1/2 tsp of Cinnamon
Put milk and sugar into a saucepan and boil until sugar is dissolved. Add cooked rice to the boiling milk, then also salt and vanilla. Cover the saucepan with a lid stirring constantly. Once the milk starts to reduce, take the lid off and stir really frequently. Put it into dishes and sprinkle with cinnamon.
The Pudding is Ready!

Breakfast, breakfast, breakfast……

I’m trying to change my morning habits and forcing myself to eat breakfast. I do not feel hungry almost every morning, so my breakfast needs to be quick and tasty. Normally, I could eat only 2 even 3 hours after getting up and it could be anything ….
Now it’s time for a change. I just thought that in the beginning, my breakfast could be a super delicious smoothie 🙂 Maybe one day I’ll be able to eat a real breakfast.

I chose a loaded with vitamin C strawberry and kiwi smoothie:

Ingredients:
strawberry yogurt
5-6 strawberries
1 kiwi, peeled
1 cup of ice

Ways for sleepyhead:)

I’m usually not full of energy in the morning. I have been always a sleepyhead and getting up early is a real challenge for me. I set the alarm clock for later, and then I have a very little time for morning  preparations and I simply leave my house without a breakfast. Without breakfast, I feel that I am cheating myself that my lifestyle is starting to be healthy. I promise myself than I will change my morning habit….. but it’s stronger than me.

Finding the best exercise for weight loss :)

I signed up for boxing classes! I read that a lot of celebrities, including Victoria’s Secret models mainly practice boxing. Perhaps it is a marketing only, but I checked the calorie counter. Boxing is so intense exercise that really burn a huge amount of calories. I compared calories burned while boxing with calories burned in cycling (which of course I’m not going to give up, because I love spring and summer cycling trips), and I was really surprised by the results, which I put in the link because I could not copy the diagram.
I also wonder if boxing will help me unload stress and feel more energy during the day? Hopefully, after a boxing class I am not going to eat a double dinner:)
